Two Lunch Tuesday is a program that helps fight poverty in the community, while at the same time engaging parents and students with the value of giving back by helping to feed those in need. The program also helps to cultivate an awareness of hunger, and needs of homelessness in communities, while providing a safe and consistent platform for students to learn the joy of paying it forward to those less fortunate. Bags will be sent home before the second Tuesday of each month. Students and parents then get involved by preparing an extra sack lunch, in addition to their own lunch which they'll normally bring to school. The extra sack lunches will be collected in the morning and picked up by the Broken Chains Ministry where they'll be distributed to the homeless throughout the Las Vegas valley.
Do you have used or broken crayons that are headed for the trash? We can do something great with them! The Crayon Initiative organizes crayon collections that take unwanted crayons, remanufactures them, and provides them to hospitals that are caring for kids. With crayons in hand, stories can unfold, dreams can take shape, and imaginations can run wild.
The Pop Tab program is an environmentally smart, community-friendly program which focuses on separating the pull tab from aluminum beverage cans. The tab is made of higher grade aluminum than the can, resulting in a larger dollar return per pound than cans. The pop tabs are recycled and the proceeds go directly to families in need who are staying at Ronald McDonald House. The little tab you pull to open your aluminum can helps the Ronald McDonald House provide a safe and comfortable place families can call "home" while their children recover in nearby hospitals.
We collect Box Tops! Monies earned go directly back to the school. We would love it if you could collect them. You can find them on hundreds of packages, everything from school supplies to cereal boxes. Each regular Box Top clipping is worth 10 cents, and those can add up quickly when we all turn them in! All you need to do is send them to school before they expire! We do two big collection drives each year so keep a look out for the Ziploc baggies that will be sent home with your child.
